Educator and Community Leader
Harris Nussbaum moved to Napa with his family in 1955. After high school he attended University of California at Berkeley, where he earned a degree in real estate, business administration, finance, an MBA in marketing, as well as a masters degree in clinical psychology. During his illustrious career, he served with the American Heart Association, Mental Health Association, California Association of Peer Program, California Teachers Association, Kiwanis, Loyal Order of the Moose, Leadership Napa Valley and was one of the founding members of Aldea. He has received several "Teacher of the Year" awards, and after 40 years with the Napa Valley Unified School District, he’s taught approximately 30,000 students, most of whom recognize him as their favorite teacher. Harris has been a cancer survivor for the past five years, and was diagnosed with two rare and serious medical conditions in August 2018. We are pleased to honor him at Reach for the Stars, The Queen's Celebration this year.
